National OT Organizations

AOTA: American Occupational Therapy Association

AOTA is the national professional association representing the interests and concerns of occupational therapy practitioners and students of occupational therapy. Its goal is to improve the quality of occupational therapy services. This site includes infrormation on careers, conferences, publications and news.

American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF) - AOTF is a charitable, scientific and educational organization founded in 1965. It serves the public interest by supporting occupational therapy research and increasing public understanding of the important relationship between everyday activities (occupations) and health.

National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) - A not-for-profit credentialing agency that provides certification for the occupational therapy profession and works with state regulatory authorities and employers to provide information on credentials, professional conduct, and regulatory and certification renewal issues.

National Association of Rehabilitation Providers and Agencies - Representing more than 45,000 therapists, rehab providers, and rehab support organizations across the country, NARA provide access to educational opportunities, advocacy, legislative updates and other regulatory efforts directly impacting the rehabilitation industry.

 

State and Regional OT Organizations

Occupational Therapy Association of California (OTAC) - A professional society designed to be the collective voice that serves, promotes, and supports the more than 15,000 occupational therapists (OTs) and occupational therapy assistants (OTAs) throughout California.

California Foundation for Occupational Therapy (CFOT) - CFOT was founded to help support students, practitioners, and researchers advance their knowledge and skills, thereby enhancing occupational therapy services to the public.

 

International OT Organizations

World Federation of Occupational Therapists - WFOT promotes occupational therapy as an art and science internationally. The Federation supports the development, use and practice of occupational therapy worldwide, demonstrating its relevance and contribution to society.

 

Hand Therapy Organizations

American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT) - ASHT is a professional organization comprising licensed occupational and physical therapists who specialize in the treatment and rehabilitation of the upper extremity.

Hand Therapy Certification Commission (HTCC) - The HTCC adminsters the Hand Therapy Certification program, a formal credentialing process that supports a high level of competence in hand therapy practice.

 

Physical Therapy Organizations

American Physical Therapy Association- The website for the APTA offers information for PTA students and PT professionals.

American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy- This Academy features information on physical therapy and new research.
