Total donated — A Well Kit totaling $1,000
In March and April of 2009, the Stanbridge College community took action to combat the clean water crisis in Africa by raising money to fund the creation of a water well in a rural African village. Through the assistance of Stanbridge College students, faculty and staff, funds were raised in record time to complete the fundraising campaign.
“All over the world, millions of innocent people are caught up in intolerable situations. But they are not today's victims; they are tomorrow's heroes, who have the power to transform their own communities.” — Mercy Corps website
Mercy Corps exists to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive and just communities. Mercy Corps helps more than 16.4 million people a year recover from disasters, build stronger communities and find their own solutions to poverty. Stanbridge College donated a Well Kit which helps communities create healthier environments for children and families by building wells and developing other reliable sources of water.
