THE STANBRIDGE WAY OF NURSING
Those who seek any kind of nursing career have a calling -- a calling to serve humanity. We at Stanbridge College recognize all of the components of this calling -- the technical, the emotional, and the spiritual. We teach our students that their patients are people first and foremost, people who need more than just physical healing. Often, nursing means offering emotional support, allaying fears, or simply opening a sympathetic ear. We wish for our students to leave our training with technical excellence, logical thinking, strong medical ethics, and spiritual compassion -- in short, to be well-balanced medical professionals.
We immerse our students in the concepts and practice of nursing, while giving them the tools for independent learning as well. Our nursing curriculum includes elements from biological, psychological and social sciences plus an underpinning of spiritual caretaking. Our lessons are up-to-date on modern technology, ensuring that our graduates work in the world of now, not then. Learning at Stanbridge is a cooperative endeavor between our students and our staff; we have an environment of supportive interaction for professional and personal growth. Our nursing education, like all of our curricula, aims for the three Stanbridge goals: to be high-quality, accessible, and relevant.
YOUR LIFE AS A LVN
A Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is a vital member of the health maintenance team at hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, convalescent facilities, and even private homes, working with Registered Nurses (RNs) and doctors. Working directly with patients, an LVN is responsible for a wide range of duties including giving injections, taking vital signs, performing basic diagnostic test, dressing wounds, and administering medication. The LVN provides direct client care under the supervision of an RN, mostly in the areas of therapeutic and preventative measures, as well as patient assessment and evaluation. The LVN has a highly demanding job -- but Stanbridge will prepare you well.
